Mast is 28 feet above deck step. Sloop rigged primarily used by the current owners as a stabilizing sail while under power as opposed to sailing only. Main boom is 12 foot. Mast mounted winch with fiddle blocks for main and jib sails. Sails appear as in good condition having seen little use and kept in bags. Standing rigging shrouds and lifelines
were replaced in July 1998.
At that time the owner replaced radar cable,
masthead light, and radio antenna. He also
added some hardware to mast for
halyards, mast winch and mast steps.

Built by C & L Marine in Taiwan this boat was built in the same yard as the Ocean Alexander. Designed by Ed Monk Sr. only 9 of these Comfort 38s were built. They employ a heavy lay up of fiberglass, a long full keel with cut away forefoot and displace 32,000 lbs. As you walk around the boat it is apparent it was built as a heavy duty style of boat. Pulpits are robust, bulwarks give a sense of safety plus life lines are of upgraded sizes. Non-skid is molded into the decks and has a deep gripping texture.
Note -- Waterline Boats / Boatshed Seattle does not independently verify tankage capacity and dimensions. Buyers should employ a surveyor to assess important features.

Large aft cabin with futon-style bed on port side with loads of storage in this cabin including a full apartment-sized floor-to-ceiling closet. There is a large pilothouse center cabin with plenty of seating. Below and forward is the galley to starboard and salon table to port. Forward of that is a head on the port side with a large soaking tub and shower. Forward to starboard is a pilot berth cabin directly across from the head. If this vessel were strictly a trawler it would be considered a tri-cabin trawler. An Ardic heat system works off the engine or separate boiler providing forced air heat and hot water for the galley and head at anchor or underway. The galley has an apartment-sized fridge/freezer that is AC or DC. All interior floors have teak and holly sole with carpet laid over for added warmth.

Commentaires du Broker
This Comfort 38 Motor Sailor was built in the same yard that builds the Ocean Alexanders. Although only nine were ever built they are a great example of an Ed Monk Northwest design. She's able to sail or motor and the roomy trawler-like spaces and abundant storage make this boat a great live aboard and a comfortable cruiser with long-range capability. She is a very good looking pilothouse yacht and anyone with a nautical eye will readily spot her merits.
