Asymmetrical spinnaker, Genoa, main, storm and tri-sail are all 2002 Hasse. The mast and boom are thought to be LeFiell Spars as this was the primary manufacturer for spars on the Kelly Petersons that were delivered to San Diego. The spars have been painted so the identifiers are now gone. The mast has ceramic steps attached from the base to the top which are great for cleaning the undersides of the spreaders and changing halyards. When the standing rigging was installed new in 2002 it was all oversized knowing the boat would be heading to the South Pacific.

During the re-fit in 2000-2004 the following was done: Mast and boom re-painted (as was entire boat), new folding ceramic steps were added to the mast, new SS 1 x19 wire rigging by Brian Toss Port Townsend Rigging, new SS STA-LOK terminals, new chrome on bronze turnbuckles, new SS toggles, new SSB backstay aerial insulators, new manual backstay tensioner, new rope purchase preventer, new FORESPAR tube & spring boom support with rope purchase vang, new Harken roller furling on forestay, new SPINLOK rope clutches on halyards and reefing lines, new braided dacron running rigging, new lazy-jacks, new swivel cam cleats for LEWMAR winches, new deck lights on spreaders, new SS Bum pulpit at mast, new SS radar stand & outboard motor swinging davit with rope purchase, new SS tube solid lifelines aft with solar panel brackets. The salon hatches and port lights were re-sealed. The sails were replaced as part of the 2000-2004 re-fit. Upon return from the South Pacific adventure Carol Hasse Sails Company in Port Townsend assessed and repaired as needed all sail inventory in 2006. The Dodger and mainsail cover were replaced in 2010. The Aft Lee Cloth was replaced in 2014.

Actual overall length on deck is 46'3". Owner reports overall length with anchors on the bow and Monitor on the stern is almost 50 feet.
This vessel was purchased by her current owners in year 2000. Between 2000 and 2004 the vessel underwent an extensive re-fit including new epoxy barrier bottom coat, replacement of all through hull fittings and valves, entire hull and topsides painted with Awlgrip, replacement of propeller, shaft and bearings, all standing and running rigging all sails, all canvas, new monitor windvane, electronics, charging system, and new generator, new burner in the furnace, freezer, dinghy and outboard.
Construction is hand laid FRP with Airex Coring in topsides. Hull to deck joint is fully fiber-glassed, very thick and solid. Survey in 2010 considered overall vessel condition as "Excellent". Builder was Queen Long Marine Co. LTD. The Kelly Peterson 44 was built from 1975 through 1983 with the extended version becoming the Kelly Peterson 46. Only 30 of these were built between 1980 and 1990. This one is hull number 26 of that run. All told, with design imitations and varying interiors built under the names of Formosa, Spindrift and Hillyer it's thought more than 600 of this design may have been built.

Durring the 2000-2004 re-fit the hull was found smooth and fair in good condition at drydock, rudder and gudgeons in good condition, all new through hull fittings bolt on style, all through hull valves replaced with bronze ball valves, new ball valve installed for new freezer cooling unit, new cutless bearing, new 20 RH 12-3 blade Campbell propeller, new stainless steel chain-plates, new SSB radiophone ground plate.

Commentaires du Broker

Kelly Peterson Yachts are an enduring product line considered by many to be among the ten best world-cruising sailboats. This beautiful center cockpit yacht has a 2010 survey in which the surveyor reported remarkable and meticulous (near Bristol) condition. Since that time the owners have continued to pour love and attention into the boat as evidenced by new galley stove (2014), new batteries (2014), new lee cloths (2014), haul out and bottom paint ( 2014), replace alternator (2014)...No deferred maintenance will haunt your consideration of this beauty. Upgrades, improvements and pride of ownership abound everywhere you look. Many owners quit working on or investing in their boats when it comes time to sell...not these owners!

The survey done immediately following the re-fit finished in 2004 said, "All work has been done to a superior standard using the best quality materials. The fittings and finish, systems and equipment on the vessel exceed that of a new vessel".

Vessel previously documented in Canada from 1993-2000.
