The engine is located below the cockpit. Access is through a removable panel under the companionway ladder to the front of the engine and through removable panels on the starboard side in the aft bunk area. This provides very good access to the front, top and aft of the engine as well as the reversing gear, shaft, packing gland and water heater. Essentially the entire bilge area is filled with the fuel and water tanks which are accessible under removable floor panels.

The Union 36 is a stoutly built, heavy displacement, full keel double ended, cutter sloop designed by Robert Perry. The design began as the Hans Christian 34 and was built at the Union Yacht Company in Taiwan, ROC. This line of boats is notable for the liberal use of well-crafted teak inside and out. On the outside there are teak decks and rails and a full teak cockpit, all in excellent condition. Ballast is cast iron bedded inside the full molded fiberglass hull. The large rudder is hung on the full keel with an internal rudder shaft controlled by a wheel in the cockpit. The mast is stepped on deck with a steel compression post to the keel. The bowsprit is a massive wood beam encased in stainless steel where the anchors rest.

The cockpit is protected with a fiberglass dodger and high quality isinglass windows and full canvas providing complete enclosure with excellent views in all directions. The entire cockpit is finished in teak and is in excellent condition. Vang and main sheet lines are led aft into the cockpit and foresail sheet winches are set to port and starboard on the cockpit coaming.
Double louvered doors with a separate, slide in lexan panel for bad weather provides access to the interior. A ladder leads down to the galley on the port side and a navigation table to starboard. Forward is the main salon with a marble topped table and "U" shaped seating to port and additional seating built in to starboard. A Dickenson diesel heating stove sits on a marble platform at the forward starboard corner of the salon area. A large, opening skylight over the center of the salon area provides light and ventilation.
A relatively large door leads forward to the head and shower and through a second set of double doors into the forward cabin with a "V" berth and storage cabinets and drawers. The double doors serve either to close off the forward cabin or to close off the toilet and basin area of the head. This allows the toilet or the shower to be isolated from the other compartments for use. A second opening skylight provides light and ventilation in the head area.
Aft of the main salon to starboard is a large berth under the cockpit seat with removable panels for access to the engine compartment. With these panels and the forward engine cover under the companionway ladder, access to the engine, gear and other systems is very good. A fixed manual bilge pump and battery boxes are located under the berth.
Refrigeration is provided by a roomy ice box. A mold is provided to produce ice blocks that just fit into the bottom of the ice box.
All new Sunbrella interior upholstery December 2015.

Commentaires du Broker
This Union 36 Cutter is a stoutly built, full keel double ender designed by Robert Perry and built by Union Yacht Co. of Taiwan, ROC. The design began as the Hans Christian 34 and is well regarded for serious, off-shore sailing. These boats have a very strong and stable hull and feature well-built teak interiors of classic design with teak cockpit and decks. This boat has been recently upgraded with new standing and running rigging and upgrades to the sails including deleting the staysail boom and adding staysail sheet tracks. The winches have been upgraded to self-tending types and a rigid boom vang was added. The cockpit is totally enclosed with a hard, fiberglass dodger forward and canvas and isinglass aft providing good visibility and all-weather protection.
In addition to the work topside, the bottom was peeled and epoxy coated in 2006 to eliminate blistering. New interior upholstery December 2015.
