Stepping aboard you instantly become aware of the very spacious accommodation by the sheer size of the companionway and as you descend into the saloon, you will not be disappointed. The saloon is light and airy with sufficient seating to easily accommodate 7. The U shaped settee extends all the way around the beautifully kept dining table. Opposite this arrangement is further linear seating which can convert to a central 2 seater dinette. Forward of this seating is an recessed entertainment cupboard with a sliding door which could house a flat screen TV if required. Excellent storage facilities for crew gear and stores are provided by additional drawers and cupboards throughout.
Aft of the saloon area is the well proportioned U-shaped galley which offers a large fridge/freezer, a good quality gimballed stainless steel 2 burner gas cooker with oven. To port of the deep double stainless sink is a generous food locker. Additional overhead storage lockers are also fitted. There is plenty of work space on the composite countertop for gourmet food preparation!
The navigation station lies to port opposite the galley; the chart table will take the standard Admiralty A2 leisure folio charts. The electrics switch panel, GPS and VHF radio are mounted above the chart table. A neat touch is the seat which swivels under the chart table when not in use. Unlike some other models, this one has a back to it, making it more comfortable when navigating at sea.
Forward of the saloon is the spacious head compartment with access from either the saloon of the forward cabin.
The large v berth forward cabin with the additional in-fill makes for a large double berth and again boasts plenty of storage with large wardrobe, drawers and mirrored cupboard together with additional under bunk storage.
Finally the large palatial aft cabin is accessed via a door to starboard of the companionway. The king sized berth offers athwartships sleeping arrangements. There are two opening port to the cockpit and an additional fixed port making the cabin a reasonably bright place. Again there is good storage throughout with wardrobe and drawers.
Throughout the boat there are numerous hatches and ports which, together with the light coloured joinery, give the interior a nice light feel.

Commentaires du Broker
Designed by naval architect Gerry Douglas and built by Catalina Yachts, this well presented Catalina 36 Mk II offers a rare opportunity to own a well built and contemporarily styled yacht not often seen this side of the pond. Her medium displacement design ensures stability in the more testing conditions.
Above deck, she has a large cockpit, easily seating 6, wide and safe side decks and an uncluttered fore deck, with enough space for sun worshippers! Deck surface is moulded in gel coat non slip surface. A sugar scoop stern with bathing platform and deep boarding ladder, which folds up to the stern rail, provides easy access through the stern.
It is clear that a lot of thought has gone into the design of the Catalina 36 MkII, particularly with regard to storage down below and access to the engine bay.
Below decks these boats can only be described as cavernous, even the companionway measures in excess of 700mm. All 3 cabins are well proportioned and the many hatches and ports ensure that there is an abundance of natural light.
It is clear from first entering the boat that this is a well loved example of the Catalina 36 Mk2; the current owner, (since almost new) has maintained the boat to an extremely high standard; she does not look 20 years old above or below deck. She is well equipped with safety gear, engine spares and deck equipment and even has a canvas cockpit enclosure with windows which effectively extends the living space and thus the sailing season.
If I had to make a negative comment in addition to the age of the rigging, I would say that it is probably time to upgrade her communications and GPS systems.
As a cruising yacht she would be equally well suited to UK sailing or further afield, perhaps in the Med. I like this boat, whenever I view a boat for the first time I ask myself if I would consider it. The answer is an emphatic yes! So, if you are looking for a 36 footer with palatial accommodation and unique style (this side of the pond), look no further. Furthermore, this boat comes complete with all the original VAT and builders documentation. Furthermore, this new price reduction, on which offers would be considered, renders this boat excellent value for money.

Note: Offers on the asking price may be considered.
