Commentaires du Broker
Met the owner onboard and they enthused lots of love for her straight away, why are they selling - for something just a little bigger. She appears to be in good condition after her travelling. She has new upholstery, recent standing rigging and a 2018 head sail.
Skipper’s note:
I’ve owned her for 8 years and have recently returned from sailing her to the Caribbean with the ARC. She’s a tough, solid and capable boat great for crossing oceans or coastal cruising. She also completed an Atlantic circuit in 2006, visiting the likes of Venezuela and Trinidad. I’d have no hesitation in taking her out to sea again tomorrow. She’s quick for her size, and easily manageable single-handed or by a couple. She’s also surprisingly spacious and comfortable below deck (and I’m 6’1).
She was my first proper boat and my girlfriend’s first sailing experience, and we’ve always felt completely safe in her hands. With her long keel, she is exceptionally sea-kindly in adverse weather, as noted by a previous skipper after sailing her in a sustained force 8-10 for five days from the Azores to Portsmouth.
Halmatics are much loved and have a small international community of like-minded sailors. With her classic lines, she’s a beautiful boat and always receives compliments in marinas and anchorages.
I’ve always given this boat the best care and high quality parts.
Overhaul in 2018 included:
Main and rigging overhauled
New genoa
New engine feet
New rudder bearings
New domestic water pump
New upholstery on cabin cushions
New sea-tap
New toilet piping and Jabsco Pump
2 x new AGM 90AH house batteries
Rope cutter on prop
Gas service
Additionally:
She has a good deck of Raymarine electronics, mast steps, AIS, and a complete suite of sails with nice easy poling out system on a mast track. I’ve built redundancy into the boat - so there are spare mains and jib, and back up manual water pumps. The engine has always been reliable, and is simple to service and get parts for. Nav and deck lights are LED for low power consumption, and the trusty Delta anchor and generous chain locker has never let us down.
Please note that the hydrovane is not included in the sale, but may be sold separately by arrangement.
We will be very sad to say goodbye to her, but it’s time for her to have new owners to take her on to future adventures.
