Commentaires du Broker
Westerly Conway, a well known, recognisable classic.
A very nicely built boat from the late seventies production, in the aft cockpit variant.
My first impression of this boat is that she's been cared for, but here and there she still needs some work done to complete the image of a boat that's been looked after.
Starting from the exterior, her nicely painted non-slip decks and fresh looking white paint on the coach roof make her stand out among the other boats. The boat has been fitted with an extended anchor cradle and a back swept radar arch. On top of the standard spray hood she's also fitted with a very spacious cockpit tent.
As a sailor I immediately noticed the number of winches and jammers. The boat is set up for single handed sailing, as well as for a relaxed family cruising.
The first thing I noticed from the companionway is her bright, cosy interior. Old dark wood panels have been painted over or covered with wallpaper to give her a fresh new look. A fully kitted out, and recently rewired, nav station remains unchanged, so despite all the alterations she looks sailable.
In the recent past I've had a chance to sail this boat and if I had to describe her in three words I would say "cosy and stable." She's equally good fun to stay on overnight or to sail on a rougher day.
From a sea readiness perspective, the boat needs some jobs done rather sooner than later. The running rigging needs to be replaced, engine needs to be serviced etc.
The good news is that the owner will have her lifted and antifouled and anodes will be done prior to the sale.
Happy sailing!
