Commentaires du Broker
Boatshed Dartmouth are pleased to present a true classic Admiralty MFV.
Stepping onboard this Admiralty MFV and greeted warmly by the current owner I knew straight away this was no ordinary boat. The reluctant sale of this boat by the owner represents the opportunity to preserve and use a boat that is part of our British Royal Navy history. There are classics and classic boats – this is living history. Most importantly she has just finished an extensive refit under the supervision of a surveyor so she has the potential to last many more years yet.
There are just half a dozen or so of these Admiralty MFV’s left from perhaps 400 built. This particular example was built for the Royal Navy in 1944/45 to Admiralty specifications. She was sold out of service in 1948 and was then used for fishing out of Belfast until being converted into a Motor Yacht in 1965.
The layout suits living aboard perfectly with plenty of space but she is so economical to run she deserves to be cruised as well and the current owner asked that I refer to her as a ’cruising home’ which is exactly what she is. She is seaworthy, economical and comfortable and should be used to her full cruising extent. Making a steady 7.5 knots and using just 1.5 gallons an hour with plenty of fuel onboard there is the opportunity to cruise and explore almost where ever you’d like to go – in comfort.
You also have the opportunity to purchase something of a celebrity. She is much admired and is well known around the classic regattas where she has scooped numerous awards over the years. She was used for the hunt for the Loch Ness monster in Operation Deep Scan in 1987 and she even made an appearance in the 1988 comedy film "A Fish Called Wanda".
